Candles and ingredients for the everyday Alchemist
We source our wax from ethical, sustainable, American farms, and get our oils 100% pure from Tenzing Momo. A Pacific Northwest based apothecary that has been doing wellness and herbalist magick for over 110 years, in Seattle, WA.
Our herbs and flowers are grown by us! On the rare occasion we run out, we source those from Tenzing Momo as well.
All of our candles are hand poured with ethically sourced soy wax, and
flowers/herbs grown and harvested on-site at The Humboldt House.
Never leave lit candles unattended.
Burn candles for as many hours at a time as they are inches across.
Burn to a full wax pooling before extinguishing the flame.
We recommend using a snuffer to extinguish our candles.
About Humboldt House
A little piece of History
Humboldt House Candle Co. is one of those re-occurring wishes made around a fire, that was brought to life by a small community of wild PNW Women. How it got its name however, is a bit of an interesting story.
The house known today as "The Humboldt House", was originally built clear across town on what is known as "5 & I" in Chico, California.
Built in 1883 in the heart of College town near the CSUC campus, 'Humboldt House' fell into disarray over the span of the 20th century as the University grew in popularity; eventually to be boarded up and set to be condemned. But...
A local to the area discovered that the house was the last standing piece of Gothic Revival style architecture in the city, and called on the city's Historical society for permission and support, in an effort to restore the home to its original glory.
Once granted, construction and planning began to figure out a way to move the house to the lot where it would be restored, and where it would be safe from demolition once brought back to life.
The city shut down streets to clear a path, and workers proceeded to cut the house IN HALF!
They successfully relocated the house across town, in pieces, and the restoration began...
Fast forward to today, and the historical home is now on Humboldt Avenue. Thus giving it a perfect name, for its future: The home to The Humboldt House Candle Co!
We are honored to bring our magic into these walls, preserve the story and share in its energy for years to come.
Each candle is hand poured, all of our Botanical/Herbal ingredients are grown and harvested on-site at our 138 year old Gothic Cottage, in the foothills of Northern California. We sincerely hope you will enjoy our products as much as we enjoy creating them for you.
Come in, light a candle, and maybe stay for a spell.
